First Time Trailer Buyer
Hitching Up Advice
Hitching your trailer up gets easier
everytime you do it. Remember to give yourself plenty
of time your first few outings. Here are five basic
things to remember. First, make sure the ball is the
right size for the trailer your towing. Second, make
sure the coupler locked onto the ball and is not just
sitting on top. These two are very common mistakes and
the reason for many trailers popping off when trailering.
Thirdly, Make sure you attach all electrical connections
properly and ensure that all lights work before trailering
down the road. Fourth, make sure your cross your safety
chains before attaching them to your tow vehicle. This
is a required by Pennsylvania law. Fifth, make sure
your breakaway battery cable is properly fastened. If
you remember these five small things you should have
no trouble hitching up.

Trailer Shopping Tips
- Be Knowledgeable- Compare
Apples to Apples

Make
sure you know what you are looking at since the trailer
industry has become very competitive between brands.
All trailer manufactureres offer different standard
features, which makes it difficult when comparing
trailer brands. Be sure to take a close look at the
complete list of options and standard features to
make sure you are getting the most for your money.
Often the trailer that looks more expensive actually
is listed at a low price for all the standard features
and options that are included on the unit. You'll
notice on our website we list the base price of the
trailer (the price of that trailer ordered in without
the options) for our customers to use as comparison.
We make it a priority to list all the standard features
for our customers on trailers we have instock. This
helps our customers understand exactly what they are
purchasing.
- Ask About Warranty

Checking the warranty is
important. Be
sure to ask about what kind of warranty comes with
the trailer. With many new trailer manufacturers coming
on the scene, solid brands have continued to offer
warranties they stand behind, and increase the amount
of years they are willing to offer with their products.
Ask about the possiblity of warranty transfer on long
term warranty offers, that way if you sell the unit
before the warranty is up, you know whether or not
you can sell your trailer with a remaining warranty.
Ask about where the warranty repair work is done,
make sure that the warranty repair shop is not in
California when you live in Maine. Here at LanChester
Trailer we handle all of our brands warranty work
onsite, and complete all the paperwork for you. We
obtain the approval, complete the work, and all you
do is schedule an appointment and pick it up when
it is done.
- Be Willing to Order

Make sure you don't settle for something
that will not work for your use. We have many trailers
instock, but occassionally a customer comes in with
a specific hauling need that no instock units fit.
We encourage our customers to order in their new trailer,
rather than selling them a unit that would cause them
issues down the road. For an example we enourage our
construction customers to purchase trailers built
for construction rather than a basic cargo trailer.
You maybe asking why, but we feel it is our job to
get them into a trailer that was built to handle that
amount of wear and tear 365 days of the year, rather
than a cargo trailer that was built for additional
cargo space. You tell us what you need and we will
provide you with serveral options that you can choose
from. We don't just sell trailers, we make sure what
we are selling matches our customers need.
